A Welcoming Home Away from Home

Whitman Phi Delta Theta has been home to over 2,000 brothers since 1915, providing a unique place to live, socialize, and bond. To remain a competitive and attractive living option, the chapter house must continue evolving. As Whitman College raises the bar with new upscale dorms, we’re investing in vital improvements over the next 18 months.

Honoring Tradition

Building for the Future

Expansions and renovations in the 1930s, 1960s, and 1990s enabled the chapter house to adapt and meet the changing needs of the chapter over time. The House again requires renovations and upgrades to ensure quality housing while maintaining the House’s historic character.

Recent Improvements

In Summer 2024, we completed several vital updates thanks to the leadership of construction executive Matt Osborne ’93.

  • Foundation Repairs

    Cracks in the original foundation were repaired, and the foundation was made watertight.

  • Dining and Living Room Remodel

    New vinyl plank floors, improved lighting, and gas fireplace inserts make the house a more inviting place to live, study, and socialize.

  • Exterior Improvements

    Deteriorated sections of the siding and the gutter system were repaired.

What’s Next?   

The upcoming phase of renovations will build on these enhancements to further improve the quality of life for current and future brothers.

  • Kitchen Renovations

    We will enhance safety and improve the flow of shared mealtimes, including a new self-service area for snacks and weekend meals.

  • Wheelchair ramp and disabled parking space

    Accessibility Improvements

    A wheelchair ramp and accessible parking will welcome brothers, guests, and members of all abilities.

  • HVAC System Upgrades

    We will improve heating, cooling, and ductwork, ensuring year-round climate control.
